Le Creuset 10-Oz. Stoneware Salt Crock Review

Le Creuset 10-Oz. Stoneware Salt Crock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recommend this with reservations.
PRO:
- Nice size. Holds about 1 cup of salt.
- Matches other Le Creuset items you may have. Elegant appearance.
- Easy to carry around given the knob on top.
CON:
- Glazed interior...some people may find the salt clumps. Many salt pigs have an unglazed interior for this reason.
- The opening is too small to allow a medium or large hand to reach in and grab salt easily. A med- or large hand could pinch up some salt, but if you intend to use your hand to get salt, and you have medium to large hands, I would get a salt pig with a larger opening such as the Emile Henry. If you plan to always use a spoon this would not be a problem.

RoadPro RPSL-350 12V 1.5 Quart Slow Cooker Review

The 12 v crock pot is of great use to us. We live full time in our RV and can use the power of the sun instead of electric or LP or generator. How nice to have a little freedom from being chained to the system. Great for truckers. Ah fresh BBQ chicken or pork with just the cost of the pot and the food. Not a foolish product at all.

SUPER STUFFER Review

SUPER STUFFER

I have lost a few spoons etc by turning on the garbage disposal and not realizing they had fallen into the sink drain - ugh that terrible noise when you know something's not right! This product, which I have used for years, and is hard to find, is brilliantly designed to stop anything but food and water from going down the sink. It is also the safest way to stuff your food scrapes down the disposal when it is running! I am so glad to find it on Amazon. I'm buying 10 for Chanukah gifts!

Norpro Grip-EZ Tea Infuser with Cup Review

Norpro Grip-EZ Tea Infuser with Cup
Average Reviews:

This item is well made, and actually rather attractive. It looks better in real-life than in the picture. The handles are a nice silicon, and the spring loaded mechanism is rather clever.
I am not, however, convinced that the design is perfect. It's a bit peculiar to load with tea while holding it open with the other hand.

Norpro Cast Iron Pig Bacon Grill Press Review

Norpro Cast Iron Pig Bacon Grill Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just had a chance to try out the bacon press tonight for BLT's--it works great! We love our bacon nice and crisp, and this little press does the job great and seems to speed up cooking time (perhaps because the cast iron "holds in the heat" while the bacon fries?). Bacon was crisp and delicious; the press prevents bacon curling and relieves you of the neverending task of flipping bacon over and over and over again when cooked conventionally. This press is a great addition to my kitchen; only gave it 4 stars, simply because it isn't quite as heavy as I would like, although it still performs well. Just make sure you season it before first use (directions in the box---just oil the press, oil a frying pan, then heat both together on VERY low heat for 20 minutes. Allow to cool and wipe excess oil off press). But don't use it with nonstick pans!

Even the best cut bacon can curl, making it difficult to cook evenly. The cast iron bacon press flattens the bacon, keeping it's shape for even cooking and the wooden handle stays cool while the press is in use.To speed up the process, pre-heat the press.

Progressive International Pineapple Corer Review

Progressive International Pineapple Corer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I slice quite a bit of pineapple and was looking for a helpful tool. This didn't work. The metal blade is too flimsy for the heavy duty job of slicing through pineapple. With quite a bit of pressure and elbow grease, it barely cut through. You have to cut the pineapple manually to almost a perfect "square" before even using the tool, quite a bit of wasted fruit. The core section usually yields core in your final slice and cuts away good fruit. Messy and time consuming. Extremely dissapointing. Not even worth committing precious drawer space for. I've now since seen it at my local grocery store and Target.

Progressive International Decorating Set Review

Progressive International Decorating Set

When i bought these, it was the cheapest set i could find with the tips that i wanted. I love them! They work great, and are still in great condition after all the use i have put into them. I really like this set. The only thing i didn't like so much was that the container it came is in kinda lousy, its just a snap close box with a bendable plastic insert to hold the tips. i thought the case was custom made, but its just got a cheap piece of plastic to hold them in that you can take out. Other than that i love it!

Norpro Stainless Steel Deluxe Corn Cutter Review

Norpro Stainless Steel Deluxe Corn Cutter

I had been looking for one of these in the stores and couldn't find any. I have braces on my teeth and one thing I am not allowed to eat is corn on the cob so since I love the stuff I decided to take it off the cob but using a knife takes awhile and this is so much quicker to use and clean up is a breeze. It is very sturdy and adjust to the size of the cob in an instant.

Deluxe Pastry Blender Review

Deluxe Pastry Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am puzzled by the one star review for this product. Though I did not purchase through Amazon, I am here searching for the product I own so that I can get more for friends. No one in my area carries them. I own the Norpro professional pastry blender. It looks identical to the item pictured here. (The four blades are not common on the other pastry blenders I've seen, and the design of this one is different enough from the standard Norpro blender that it is easy to differentiate.) I make my pastry with cold butter and this is the only pastry blender I have tried that doesn't bend under the resistance of the hard, cold, butter. All other blenders I have tried have such flimsy wires or blades that I can move them with my fingers. These blades do not bend under pressure whether from my fingers or the hard butter. I don't understand why even my local kitchen specialty store doesn't carry them. The "heavy duty" Norpro blender they carry is nowhere near as strong as this. If this truly is the product pictured, it is the best.

Norpro Decorative Tea Infuser with Drip Cup Review

Norpro Decorative Tea Infuser with Drip Cup
Average Reviews:

Don't pay attention to the reviewers who think that you brew tea in a tea strainer. You don't cook spaghetti in a spaghetti strainer. This is a tea strainer, made for pour loose leaf brews through AFTER you have brewed your tea, so that you don't wind up with leaves in your cup. This works great for Turkish Coffee as well.
So, basically you DO NOT place loose leaves in the wire mesh and pour hot water through it. Place the loose leaves in the hot water and brew them in the tea pot. Pour the tea that you have brewed to your taste through the strainer and into the cup and catch the loose leaves.

Our stainless steel infuser brews and strains loose leaf tea, while the cup catches drips before they hit the table, linens or counter.Extended lip rests the infuser over cup or pot.

Norpro 367 Natural Cheese Cloth Review

Norpro 367 Natural Cheese Cloth
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I can't believe how much money I've wasted on the cheap (expensive!) crap at the grocery store. For making stock, those are way too "holey" and trying to wash them to reuse is ridiculously impossible. In any event, if you make stock and end up with that gritty brown stuff at the bottom of your pot, you'll know what I'm talking about. (even after you've strained two times with that cheap stuff at the grocery store and "specialty" kitchen stores!)
I only cut one piece of this cloth so far (maybe 1/3 of original size) and have made gallons of stock and it's still strong as ever. My stock now comes out completely pure and clear, no grit at the bottom of the pot.
I can't believe how well this thing works and to top it off, I think that one small piece I cut off the cloth is going to last forever. It's large enough to lay over my metal strainer and I cook 20 quarts of stock at a time. I now only have to strain once. Whoopee!!!
To the person who says it shrinks. Well, that could be but you must have eagle eyes to figure out how much. No I do not put it in the dryer. why would you do that? I wash it out in the sink, soak it in a small bath with 1 tbs of bleach, rinse, then hang off my cabinet door knob to dry. I admit I skipped the bleach soak the last time and none of us got sick.
I kept thinking there had to be something else better out there and I FINALLY found it.
Buy it, you won't regret it.
P.S. I still use the cheap expensive stuff from the grocery store but only for Bouquet garni. I don't mind throwing out a few inches of that stuff, but treat this purchase like gold.
