Le Creuset Stoneware Butter Crock, Cherry Review

Le Creuset Stoneware Butter Crock, Cherry

I really like this product. I was concerned, after reading some reviews on Butter Bells and 'on the counter' storage of butter.
I have not had any problems with it. It holds more than one stick of butter, spreading the butter at room temp, is so nice and easy. We tend to use less of it, than when we had to try and spread butter, cold from the fridge.
All I have to do is change the water every couple of days, and I try and keep it off the counter directly over the dishwasher, or too close to any appliances that give off heat.
To fill, I set the wrapped stick of butter out on the counter for a while, until it gets soft, and I smush in the softened butter with a spoon. Using the back of the spoon, I make a concave area in the middle and make sure the butter touches the sides of the crock.
It is great and everyone who sees it, wants one!
I recommend it!

Le Creuset 6-Oz. Stoneware Butter Crock Review

Le Creuset 6-Oz. Stoneware Butter Crock
Average Reviews:

This is just the kind of thing we were looking for - a way to store butter at room temperature so it's easily spread, but protected so it doesn't go bad. The water doesn't really interfere with using the lid to spread butter, and it's not hard to remember to change the water when we run the dishwasher every 2-3 days. We hand wash this so I can't speak to whether it's really dishwasher-safe, but it seems sturdy and well-made. One thing to remember is that you can't just shove a stick of refrigerated butter in here; the butter must be packed into the cup so it sticks to the sides in order to prevent it falling out into the water when you want to use it. This means you have to let the butter come to room temperature before you pack it into the butter crock, and you have to pack it in well in order to make sure it sticks to the sides of the cup.
My one complaint about this product is that it simply doesn't store six ounces of butter like it says it does: one four-ounce stick of butter comes almost to the rim of the cup once you've packed it in firmly, so it really only stores four ounces. Considering I paid more for this one specifically because it stored the extra two ounces, I'm frustrated it doesn't store those extra two ounces like the description says.

Emile Henry Butter Pot, Cerise Review

Emile Henry Butter Pot, Cerise
Average Reviews:

The Emile Henry butter keeper is particularly well-designed. Its "Bell" stores almost 8 oz of butter and is inverted, unlike most others, so the butter is far less likely to slide out - unless room temperatures are excessive.
These butter keepers certainly do a good job of keeping butter at room temperature and therefore nicely spreadable. I cannot confirm how long they prevent spoilage, but it would be far longer than the butter remains uneaten in this household. I do remember that my "fridgeless" great-grandmother used one back in the 1950's and never wasted her butter because of spoilage.
I prefer to leave the butter on the kitchen counter to come to room temperature. (It is far too easy to overheat it in the microwave, resulting in inferior texture.) Two sticks will completely fill the keeper leaving enough extra for about one piece of toast.
This is a replacement I ordered (same item, direct from Amazon.com) and has the perfect glaze quality I expect from this manufacturer, unlike the previous white one, which I (over-generously) gave 3 stars.

This is the best butter keeper we've ever had! It's so cute and little, and I LOVE that it holds two sticks! It keeps it incredibly fresh, having this around makes breakfast time so much more enjoyable when we have toast or pancakes or waffles, etc.

Le Creuset Stoneware Butter Crock, Cobalt Review

Le Creuset Stoneware Butter Crock, Cobalt

This crock actually works. You'll have room temperature butter anytime you want it. It holds about 1 and 1/2 sticks of butter. Just bring the butter to room temperature, pack it tightly in the upside-down cup, fill the base with a little water, and your butter will stay fresh and at room temperature. Although the instructions suggest changing the water every 3-4 days, I find that I only need to change it about once every 10 days or so. When using the butter, be careful to remove it evenly from the top working your way down. If you take too much from one side, the glob of butter will end up sliding out of the cup and down into the water when you pull out the cup. When the cup is full of butter, you'll have some water clinging to its surface, but blotting with a paper towel will easily solve that problem.

Marble Butter Keeper Review

Marble Butter Keeper

Love my pretty marble butter keeper! It's so very nice to be able to keep butter at spreadable consistency and still cool enough to stay fresh. >smack!< Hands off! It's mine! Get your own!! You'll be glad you did.
Pros: keeps one stick of butter fresh and spreadable for 30 days (assuming you don't eat much butter); bread/muffins don't get torn up while buttering; no butter thrown away because it's gone bad; handy; easy to clean; looks nice on cabinet or table.
Cons: you do need to remember to change out the water every three days; drips a few water drops when you open it -- oh, the horror of it all!

Le Creuset Stoneware Butter Crock, Caribbean Review

First, I love Le Creuset and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the structure or manufacturing of this product. I would definitely buy other Le Creuset items.
I did not realize this butter crock was of the "put water in me to keep your butter fresh" style (otherwise known as "butter bell"). I'm not a fan of this because you have to use water to keep the butter "fresh". However, the butter gets wet and you have to wipe it off before using it. Also, you have to change the water frequently. I just wanted a little crock with a regular flat lid to put butter in. So I didn't get what I expected, but it still is a nice little dish. Now, I just use the crock without the water and store it in the refrigerator.
