I had the Nesco with the porcelain cookwell for at least 15 years. Replaced it with this non-stick and absolutely love it. The Nesco saves lots of time & doesn't heat up the kitchen. I would never be without one! I use it like my oven but without all the heat! Have fixed chicken, pork loins, pot roasts, ham, etc in my Nesco & have never been disappointed. It usually cuts the baking time also compared with an oven. Absolutely the best kitchen appliance that I have!

Ordered this last week and received it last week with Amazon's wonderful 2 day shipping. I cooked a 22lb turkey in this and it cooked it wonderfully. The turkey was delicious and very moist. I loved using it because it saved so much space in the oven. The only negative thing was the skin on top of the breast did not get crispy, but other then that the flavor was delicious. Will be using this on Christmas to cook a ham in.

Rival 22qt Roaster Review

Rival 22qt Roaster

I couldn't do without this product especially on holidays. Very few people have enough ovens to handle all the roasting, baking and heating that goes on at that time. I cooked a large prime rib in mine at Christmas and a large turkey at Thanksgiving and it was a life saver. At other times I've put in pies to bake or casseroles to bake while my regular oven was available for other things.

Rival RO180 18-Quart Roaster Oven, White Review

Rival RO180 18-Quart Roaster Oven, White

I bought this a couple of years ago to help with the Thanksgiving load on the oven. But now we wouldn't cook a turkey any other way, and I love it for big batches of soup and chili. The turkey cooks in far less time than in an oven, and it's wonderfully moist and flavorful. It makes huge batches of soup that are not possible in my crock pot, so is invaluable for those extra large recipes. And it's very easy to transport.
I really appreciate having the oven available for other dishes when I use my roaster. And when my oven was being repaired ,we used the roaster in it's place, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I could cook in it! I just used it dry, and put my baking pans inside, and my dishes came out just as good as when using the conventional oven. It's large enough to easily accomodate a 9x13 pan.
The one big drawback is you have to really watch the temperature. It gets hotter than you set the dial, so I compensate and cook at a lower temperature. It can be annoying at first, but once you get used to your roaster, it's not so big of a deal. But be prepared until you know what your roaster will do. And the removable pan you cook in is very big and not very nonstick, so can be a pain to wash unless you have an extra large sink. Spraying it down in the sink while it's still hot does help with clean-up, but it's never easy to wash. It does take up a lot of counter space while using it.
I have the buffet inserts, and they work great for taco/nacho parties. I put the hot items in their own compartment (meat, beans, cheese sauce), and they stay hot the entire time. And, again, it's portable, so you can take it to an event to use this way. If we have a big crowd at the holidays and serve family style, I put in the buffet insert after the turkey is done, fill them with the hot sides (potatoes, stuffing, veggies, etc), and it keeps those 3 hot dishes hot through out the entire meal. Very handy!! If you do a web search, you'll find a ton of great ideas and recipes for your roaster. There are very dedicated roaster users out there that have great information that I recommend you look at.
Like I said, I initially got it for holiday meals, but find I'm reaching for it for so many other events. Just watch the temperature!

Rival RO1801BR-S Stainless Steel Oval Roaster Oven Review

Rival RO1801BR-S Stainless Steel Oval Roaster Oven

I used my new roaster for the first time today on a small prime rib roast. The roast cooked in less than 90 minutes and came out just right with no effort. The roaster is simple to use & clean-up was a breeze. I was really excited to read the enclosed pamphlet, and learn of so many other applications for this roaster! My entire intention was to use it for large meats on occasions when I need my oven for side dishes. I will be steaming veggies, baking potatoes & other goodies, and I can't wait to use it as a warm-dish buffet on Christmas (after we pull the prime ribe out) when I have a house full of people!
I had no issue with unsafe or injurious steam release, as per the previous review. However, I did not "steam" my roast. I would recommend that when using steam for cooking, in ANY venue, you use general caution with hand & face placement, and of course always use a pot holder or oven mit - it seems to work fine for me, as I've never aquired a steam injury, thankfully.
I enjoy having this roaster so much in fact, that my mother will be receiving one for Christmas!

Waring Pro RO18 Professional 18-Quart Oven Roaster, Brushed Stainless Review

I was looking for a product to cook 14 pork shoulder roasts for large event. I usually cook the roasts in a crock pot, but knew that to cook this many would take forever; besides the fact that many of them were too large to fit in a large crock pot. After some research, I found the Waring Pro RO18 and ordered 3 of them. I could put 2 roasts in each roaster. They did the job beautifully. I cooked, shredded, and froze the meat in ziplock bags. Then later used the roasters to serve it with BBQ sauce. I plan to use these roasters for years to come, cooking for my large family and friends. They do get hot on the outside, much like an oven, so be sure to set them on a heat-resistance surface.

Hamilton Beach 32229 22-Quart Roaster Oven, Stainless Steel Review

I bought my roaster for Thanksgiving. I usually do a lot of cooking and baking for Thanksgiving and this year I made 6 baked desserts alone. I started looking for something to help me with the lack of oven space for this year and found out about the turkey roaster, I had never heard of one before. I started reading a ton of reviews on several different sites to educate myself prior to buying one. I also asked around and called a few people I knew cooked a lot for thier opinions. I got good overall feedback, so I bought this one. Maybe I shouldn't have tried a new method for the first time on such a big day as Thanksgiving... but this has a happy ending. I had a 23.22lb turkey this year. Typically I will cook a bird that big on 300-325 degrees for about 4.5 to 5.5 hours. All the reviews and the instructions stated to cook anything you are making in the roaster at the exact same temperature and time as you would a regular oven. The only two things I saw were about not opening the lid because of how much more of a loss of heat you have on a roaster vs. a regular oven. Also the complaints about a crisp outside which can be easily solved by placing your bird in the oven for just the last 20 minutes of cooking time.
So I got my turkey in the preheated turkey roaster at just below 325 degrees and decided I would cook it for about five hours. I knew I didn't want to keep checking on it because of the notation about heat loss so I decided on that time from the get go since it always worked for me in the past. I got a little nervous and about 3 hours and 45 minutes into the cooking time, I decided to take a peak. A turkey is done and still tender in the thigh at 175 and more like 165 degrees in the breast, and since the turkey will continue to cook 5-10 degrees after you take it out of the oven, I usually take my bird out at 155-160 degrees when taking the temp from the breast. I freaked out when the thermometer read 215 degrees after only about 3.5 hours. I turned the roaster off and took the inside pan out and set it out in the cold to cool down as fast as possible. I admit, I started to cry at the disaster and couldn't help but think about how much that turkey cost that I worried would be a waste of money. And what would my family eat as far as meat went. But let me tell you something... I have never had a juicer turkey in my entire life. I have NO CLUE how at 215 degrees, but I went to grab the leg and the bone just came out completely clean. I guess because it is more of a steam cooking process that it stayed so juicy, or maybe because I wrapped it in bacon, but it was so good! I read someone said it took an extra hour and half, perhaps you didn't preheat the oven or thought you had it at the right temperature but it wasn't... or maybe you opened the lid too many times or didn't secure the lid to begin with, because I had the exact opposite problem. I guess I would just say to check whatever you are making just one time, half way through the originally cooking time to see how it is doing. Otherwise, I love my turkey roaster!
